Random Neural Firings
OK. I can’t help it. It has finally happened. The other me, the one with occasionally zany thoughts, has taken over and has decided to post. I’m afraid it won’t be the last time. Well, here goes (he says as he let’s go of the steering wheel.)
It just hit me the other day when I was browsing through the Sunday morning sales ads. The costumes for the Wiggles ™ are almost identical to the costumes of the federation male crew members on Star Trek ™ the original series.
It’s all there. The blue, red, and gold shirts. The black pants. The insignia on the chest. They may not have boots, but the Wiggles are definitely from some other worlds. Beam me up, though, my kids love them.
It also hit me the other day that the first Curious George ™ book has an imbedded slave narrative that makes me fairly uncomfortable. The second one “Curious George Gets a Job” has an escape from captivity into free enterprise through the service industry that culminates in a trip to the hospital and a drug trip. (You don’t believe me, do you? Go back and read it.) That also disturbs me. I also wonder how the Man With the Yellow Hat ever got homeowner’s insurance. I can see it now, “Mr. Hat, we have to cancel your policy because that blamed monkey is just too curious.”
