On Bush and Texas

As a person who was born and raised in Texas, I do NOT understand how we have fallen for the Bush family. Old George is a carpetbagger who lusted for our electoral college votes and then managed to convince us that he had some sort of Texas connection by coming here and throwing around some old money in the oil fields. Sure George W. has more connections with the Lone Star State than his daddy, but he, too, is crassly invested in Texas because we’ve got a considerable electorate. Do I fault the Bushes for manipulating us? Absolutely not. That is good politics. Do I fall for his “cowboy” swagger? No. Any rich person can buy a ranch in Texas. If I inherited several million dollars and bought a house in London, I still wouldn’t be British. Note to the rest of the world: Stop judging Texas by GWB!
